Reproduction of white amur

in the conditions of the Bukhtarma NVH

Description of the species

White Amur (Ctenopharyngodon idella) belongs to the Chinese lowland ichthyofaunistic complex. Acclimatized in many countries. Brought to the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and introduced into many reservoirs of Kazakhstan in the 50-60s from China and Russia.

Since 1968, white amur has been introduced into the Bukhtarma reservoir from the Almaty settlement. The main biological value of white amur is feeding on higher aquatic vegetation. In the conditions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it is promising in the following areas:

– Pasture aquaculture (in lakes, reservoirs and water bodies);

– Pond fish farming (as an additional object of polyculture);

– Biomelioration of canals, irrigation systems, cooling ponds, etc.

Nutrition

The main biological value of the species is feeding on higher aquatic vegetation. Grass carp switches to consuming higher aquatic vegetation at the age of 30 days with a body length of about 3 cm. The daily diet of grass carp at the age of two is 640 g / kg of body weight, for three-year-olds – 800 g / kg, the feed coefficient for grass carp is usually considered to be 32 units for soft vegetation, and 41 units for hard vegetation. There is information about the feed coefficient value equal to 60 units.

The young feed on zooplankton, and when the young reach a weight of 5 grams, they switch to feeding on macrophytes and lower algae.

Feeding conditions

Grass carp is a heat-loving fish. The sum of active temperatures (t°> 15°C), ensuring sexual maturation of females and males, should exceed 3000 degree-days. The optimal water temperature for growth and nutrition is within 20-30°C. A decrease in water temperature below 10°C is accompanied by a decrease in feeding intensity. Grass carp reproduction areas are concentrated in pond fish farming zones 6 and 7. Grass carp is not inferior to carp in winter hardiness and tolerates winter conditions well in all fish farming zones of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The feasibility of resettling grass carp is determined by the presence of large macrophyte production in reservoirs and the tasks of biological reclamation of reservoirs.

Reproduction

Reproduction of white amur in the conditions of 2-3 fish-breeding zones of the Republic of Kazakhstan is possible only in artificial conditions using the factory method.
